The Montgomery County government recently honored several local “unsung” sports leaders—coaches and volunteers—who’ve made major impacts in youth sports through mentorship, resource provision, and outreach.
Montgomery College established its first endowed athletic scholarship, providing financial support to student athletes who juggle academics and sports.
The scholarship will cover tuition and provide a stipend, acknowledging that many student athletes can’t hold jobs while also managing training, competition, and classes.
Montgomery County Public Schools added pickleball as a varsity sport across all high schools, increasing access to athletic options for more students.
